Abou, a Burkinabe and Canadian national, joined the World Bank in 2015 as a Short-Term Consultant and is currently Senior Economist in the Poverty and Equity Global Practice. In his assignments, he led and co-led various analytical and operational works including poverty Assessments, Systematic country diagnostics, and StatCap projects for the development of statistical public goods and initiatives for data sharing and analysis in Sahel countries. He is currently the poverty economist for Chad and co-leading the regional statistical projects HISWACA – SOP 2 and HISWA. Prior to joining the World Bank, he worked for 6 years at the National Statistical Office of Burkina Faso where he held various responsibilities including the head of poverty monitoring department. Abou holds a PhD in Economics from Laval University (Canada) and a Master’s degree in statistics and economics from the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Statistique et d’Economie Appliquee d’Abidja (Côte d’Ivoire).
